September 2024 Newsletter - almost time for pumpkin spice...
Welcome fall…
If you know me, you know that plans for Halloween are already in motion! Although I am not as crazy about pumpkin spice as some of you are, however, I am the biggest Halloween aficionado around! That does not mean that I am truly ready to let go of summer’s warmth quite yet.
If you are heading back to school or alternatively, if you are sending your little ones back to the classroom, I encourage you to make sure your checklist includes time for self-care; see my suggestions below.

This summer has been transformative for me. In the August newsletter, I introduced you to the author who has been my latest obsession;
’s books have held my attention in the best possible way. You will find me quoting her for quite some time to follow... more below in the books I am reading section. The coolest thing happened, I found Kathleen right here on Substack and she is now subscribed to MY BLOG! Queue huge #fangirl moment. There is lots coming up at Sparks of Healing in September. Thank you for spending a few precious moments with me to check it out!
Reiki Updates:
Reiki Shares are becoming one of my most favourite events of the month! August was an intimate gathering of two, which meant that I received the gift of a full session exchange with one of my youngest practitioners, Savannah. She is the most amazing young women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She informed me that Mary Magdalene is currently working at my side to help me bring Love and Light to everyone I encounter. That was wonderful confirmation for me of something I have been feeling for a while.
✨We meet every third Sunday of the month from 1 - 3 pm in the comfort of my home. If you have taken your Reiki training from me, it is free for you to attend; if you trained with another Reiki Master and are looking for a lovely community to share the energy, and enjoy continuous learning with a loving community, you are welcome too! The investment for you is $20. Whichever category you fall into, go here to register for September: Book here
Reiki Training: As the master of my own schedule, I am flexible with training dates. If you are ready to take the next, or first step, in your Reiki Training journey I am here to serve. Please reach out if the dates posted do not work for you, if you do not see a date, or if you want to learn a little bit more about what I teach before you commit.
I offer a 30-minute free Reiki Training consultation where we can see if we are a good fit to work together and then find a date to make that happen. Here’s the link: Free 30-minute Reiki training consult (Scroll down to where the Reiki sessions are listed to find the free 30-minute consultation). To answer the question, I teach in person or online, whatever best suits your needs.
Books I’ve been reading…
Yes, I am a voracious reader, thank you for noticing! There is a theme here, even though one of these authors is not like the other. Kathleen McGowan and Jodi Picoult are both writing about women being erased from history; there accomplishments hidden away, stricken from the record, or changed in a way to lessen their importance and accomplishments. Fascinating theories here, labelled as fiction, leaving us to decide for ourselves where the truth lies.
History is not what happened, but what is written down. - Kathleen McGowan, The Expected One.
I finished all of Kathleen’s books, just in time for Jodi Picoult’s latest offering. In “By Any Other Name” Jodi explores the possibility that Shakespeare not only did not pen a single play, but that some of those plays may have been written by a woman named Emilia Bassano. I found this book a fascinating read and peek into Elizabethan times.
Although I read The Source of Miracles earlier, I have saved talking about it for last. This book is an exploration of the Lord’s Prayer where Kathleen “unlocks the hidden power of the Lord’s Prayer to create real and lasting change in the soul.” As I worked through the chapters of Faith, Surrender, Service, Abundance, Forgiveness, Overcoming Obstacles, and LOVE, I experienced huge shifts in my thoughts and feelings about the past.
I released triggers, replacing them with compassion and a broader understanding about why people are the way they are and how to expand my ability to LOVE to include them even when they are not loving to me. Interested in learning more? I am exploring The Mother Wound as a series on My Weird and Wonderful Life blog now.
People are doing the best they can with what they have. Kathleen McGowan, The Source of Miracles.
That quote alone has assisted me in maintaining my level of Zen regardless of what is going on around me. Some old guy steals my parking spot? Someone snaps at me for no known reason? A person I am counting on drops the ball? They are all doing the best they can with what they have. I can extend my patience to them, to the best of my ability instead of returning the energy in kind. I can choose love and assume they are truly doing the best they can in that moment.

How did this come to be?
I have been looking at ways to incorporate Sound Healing into more of the work that I do. People have been asking me for years how I channel sound, how does it work? The work I have been doing to release the old grievances, hurts, and triggers seems to have made room for something else to come in.
After many starts and stops trying to fit sound into my world with collaborators, I was inspired to offer this workshop on my own.
The joy I experience leading others to open up and trust themselves is immense. I wonder what else is magically possible?
