I have the good fortune to be close friends with Jolie Engelbrecht, who is Trina E. Read’s step sister. This lead me to the opportunity to be an advanced copy reader of her freshly published book, The Sex Course. See my review below.
“The only thing that could have made this book any better would be if I had it in my hands a few decades ago! Trina E. Read spins a wonderful tale, weaving together education in between the awkward and supportive friendships which emerge between four very different women.
The stories of these women unfold in naturally in engaging ways, allowing the reader to understand how each one came to be at the point we met them in their lives.
Additionally, I appreciated the small details about the instructor which made them human, nicely hiding the fact that we were being educated by her presence in the book. This is an extremely important book. Thank you, Trina E. Read, to have the courage to write and publish this book.”
I am currently reading and working through the follow up workbook as an advanced reader also; I will provide a review of it when I am finished and it is ready to hit the virtual and IRL bookstores in March.
I remember an episode of Desperate Housewives; in the beginning when it was somewhat relevant content, before the writers’ strike. Here is the most important clip. I remember being a mom of four, watching this and bawling my eyes out; the realization that I was not the only one who found parenting overwhelming. I feel like The Sex Course is like that episode, in book form, where women get real and honest about what does and does not go on in the bedroom.
Stay tuned for my review of the workbook.
