Solstice reflections

A brag, a wish, a release...

Last night I attended a Winter Solstice Sound Bath led by three amazing Reiki Masters who are accomplished musicians as well as intuitive healers. My friend and I lay on mats, covered with our blankets while the sounds of drums, gongs, crystal bowls, chimes, and digeridoo flowed over our bodies.

The evening began with a smudge of Palo Salto along with the digeridoo played over each attendee, then carried on for about forty minutes. Honestly, it felt like about ten minutes as I was carried away by the rhythms and sound.

After a short break we returned to our mats where we were asked to consider the following three things for our second session.

A brag, a wish, a release.

We were not expected to share with the large group, only to have things ready to consider.

A brag… what did you do this year that you are really proud of? Have you spent enough time truly feeling good about the thing you accomplished? How did you make a difference for yourself or in the lives of others? As they played, they asked us to tap into our hearts to allow self-love to flow with pride for our accomplishments.

A wish… she assured us that our wishes had no bounds. Sure, we can “ask for a pair of $300 jeans” if that’s what you want; you could also wish for world peace, for an end to poverty, sickness, or homelessness. Make your wish as big as you want it to be or as specific and allow it to float on the sounds out into the universe to be fulfilled.

A release… what is it that you no longer wish to carry? What is a burden on your heart? Let the music wash it away and feel lighter in the letting go.

What a lovely ceremony these three magical beings performed for us. I left with my heart full and my burdens lightened; a clearer picture of who I wanted to be in the new year. As we walked back to my car, I noticed a vehicle parked nearby with the license plate 111. This was the THIRD unique vehicle I saw on Solictice with a 111 plate. The angels confirming it was time to let go of the heaviness, embrace the good in me, and hope for abundance, joy, peace, health, and love in the future.
