Recently I attuned my fifty-ninth student to Reiki 1st Degree and every time I teach, I remember why I love it. Every student is amazed by the information and excited about their journey forward. Well, nearly every student… there was that one, but that is another story.
A short while ago, in a private group on the book of faces, another Reiki Master challenged me about my practices. She told me that she was a member of the Canadian Reiki Association and that by blending Reiki into my hypnosis I was going against their code of conduct; I have never heard of this group, nor am I aware of their rules. Previously in a private message, she told me she doesn’t really practice Reiki anymore because “you can’t swing a cat in this town without hitting a Reiki practitioner”. I would like it to be noted that she shared this in a DM to me, even though we are not friends, only peers in a private group for hypnotists.
People are strange. They have such strong ideas about right and wrong; those with the strongest ideas of polarity seem to be the ones who need to shout at those of us they deem to be breaking their rules. At first, I felt the need to defend myself, but did so by asking her questions. This seemed to rile her even more, resulting in her muting me. I thought she blocked me but a few days later, I saw her posts in the group again.
I recently read the following, and unfortunately did not write down the author… if anyone recognizes this, tell me and I will update this newsletter:
There are people who completely disagree with what I write… but that’s what success looks like in academia: when people think you are worth disagreeing with, you’ve arrived.
Her statement that I was going against some Reiki code of conduct threw me off centre for a moment; I took some time to think it over.
Am I honouring my parents, teachers, and elders? Yes, I am showing my students and others that Reiki is LOVE. Reiki is accepting others as they are, having compassion and finding ways to connect, finding value in all of humanity.
Am I earning my living honestly? Yes, I am very open about the fact that I teach what I call Reiki Plus. I add in what I have learned about science along with spirituality; how it all fits together, in fact complimenting the other at the base understanding. I tell everyone that I am no one’s guru. I am a lifelong learner and as I know more, my beliefs and opinions change.
Do I show gratitude for every living thing? Yes, I believe that I do, well I am doing the best I know how, that is certain. I include an index at the back of all the books I have read that lead to my understanding, giving credit to all those whose findings have influenced my conclusions. I am grateful to all those who have come before, breaking ground and clearing the way to make my journey easier.
In the end, I have determined that I will carry on doing what I am doing while she carries on swinging cats, I suppose. To each their own.
My husband says I should stop feeding the internet trolls. This is also good advice…
When I teach Reiki 1st Degree, I include Oneness information; Talking about how the Reiki self-treatments clear our path to Higher wisdom by connecting us more clearly to All That Is, the Cosmic Centre, or whatever name they are comfortable with. I will talk about how clearing our survival chakras and rooting down connects us to Gaia, Mother Earth. I teach that we should have gratitude for these bodies that our Earth Mother has provided for us, and supports on her very being.
I teach that by allowing LOVE to flow within us in both directions through the Infinity Breath helps us be the connection between the Cosmic Centre and Mother Earth, (thanks to Simone Matthews who introduced me to that concept). As we send and receive LOVE, we create Heaven on Earth. Reiki helps to clear the way, removing any blocks to make us the clear and perfect channel of the Light, which is LOVE.
I share what I have learned about tapping into our body’s wisdom; How to find the truth in what another is saying, how to use our body’s internal compass to choose what is right to nourish our body, mind, and spirit.
The gift of Reiki is amazing and I am honoured to attune those who are drawn to me. The Plus part, I hope, will help them understand why and how to use it in their daily lives to assist themselves along with the entire planet and beyond. This information is shared with an open and compassionate heart.
By declaring that I am a Reiki Master, I am not saying I am better than anyone else, I am stating that I have made the conscious decision to work on my blocks, to integrate my shadows, to love myself, and forgive my imperfections. I am doing the work of acceptance and forgiveness of others. I am learning to live without judgement, to allow others the space to make their choices with their Free Will, just as I make mine. In doing this, my peace and joy in simply being here has increased immensely. I want to share this with the world.
I truly believe that the way to a better world for all is for everyone to learn to love and accept themselves as they are right now. When we learn to truly love ourselves from the inside out, we will have more love and compassion for others. A world here humanity remembers we are connected, we are all Sparks of Oneness, cannot help but come together to create a better tomorrow. Reiki has been my foundation to get to this point. I would love to live where every second person declares themselves a Reiki Master… that they too are on this journey.
" I am stating that I have made the conscious decision to work on my blocks, to integrate my shadows, to love myself, and forgive my imperfections," love this!!
