Serge Kahali King is a fantastic writer who focuses a large portion of his work on ancient Hawaiian tradition. My first trip to Hawaii in 2018 was with a group of healers from Canada, led by a wise woman named Bonnie Bogner, who had lived on The Big Island for eight years; finding time between raising three strapping boys to study with a kahuna while she was there. I become enamored of the people immediately, wanting to understand their ways, traditions, and beliefs.
I am a firm believer that we are grand creators of our lives, drawing experiences to us by way of what we focus on and speaking them into existence with emotion. In addition to things we consciously and unconsciously create, our subconscious stores all experiences, creating rules around those experiences which include high emotion.
Hypnosis has been a great gift for me from both the seat of the practitioner, and the client chair. I firmly believe in its abilities to pull out old, outdated beliefs by their roots. As long as the client is willing to allow the Superconscious Mind to do the necessary weeding of the subconscious.
This year alone I have witnessed two separate clients recall incidents from their preteen years which were the cause of current adult issues. Neither of these clients had a conscious recall of the incidents, however the superconscious knew exactly where to look. It is amazing how much unintentional lifelong damage teachers, parents, and other adults in authority can wreak upon impressionable minds. One client was sent out of a classroom repeatedly for talking too much, for asking too many questions, with the teacher admitting that the student was too far ahead of everyone else which would “cause the other students to fail, if the questions continued.” This created a present-day experience of the adult hiding their talents and abilities; downplaying them so as not to make anyone uncomfortable or stick out from the crowd. The other client had an embarrassing situation at eleven in front of trusted friends who laughed and shamed him; leaving him afraid to strike out, take chances, and freely follow his intuition, also suffering an undercurrent of low-grade anger. Both of these clients were amazed to relive the experiences as if they were happening now and further to feel actual, physical relief in letting go of their stored emotional trauma.
As a client myself, I have been shown time and again the seemingly unrelated events that linked together to form entire belief systems. Hypnosis helped to break apart the system into individual loops and then render their importance to zero.
On a conscious level, it is important to control what we move from our brain to our mouths, and how much emotion we attach to what we voice into existence. We cannot readily control the thoughts that enter our mind, that takes years of practice and perhaps might not ever be completely within our conscious control; I know I certainly have unwanted thoughts, especially in unpleasant experiences. We can, however, choose consciously what comes past our filter out our mouths into the world. If I do not truly mean something, I should not truly say it! If I don’t want something to happen, I should not speak it into existence.
There are those times where things just are not going according to plan and we might, with a great deal of frustration say “What on earth can go wrong next?!!” Well, the universe is listening to what was said and with some force, so it is obligated to present exactly what else can go wrong… We asked for it with a lot of emotion. What does that have to do with hypnosis? In trance, we can dig out the root of those triggers to reframe them and neutralize the emotion. This way we keep the lessons of the past, but let go of the emotion, allowing us to dig into the vault of our mind to see what happened before, use the lesson to create a different outcome this time without getting mired in the muck of the stuck emotion.
We need to create the feeling of what we want in life, and find more of what feels that good, to paraphrase Abraham.
Sometimes, it seems like magic.
