October 2023 Newsletter for Sparks of Healing
A funny thing happened after I left the corporate world…
If you have been a subscriber of this newsletter for a while, you may have noticed that it did not arrive on the 1st of the month as is my plan, or perhaps you did not notice at all because your inbox is chalk full of things you never get a chance to read and occasionally just hit Select All/Delete in there… If you happen to be someone who looks forward to knowing what is going on in My Weird and Wonderful Life, my regrets, this is coming to you midway through October. I have no excuses for you and I have decided that I will not offer up an apology either; life has been full of things that have kept me away from the computer more often than not and kept me away from routine.
A funny thing happened to me when I stopped working in the corporate world, my life is no longer directed by my watch and calendar nearly as it used to be, which can result in days, nay weeks slipping away from me. Does that happen to you? Is it a world thing, or a soulpreneur thing? I am not sure. I do not call myself retired, simply because I am not. I work for myself which means sometimes, like in July I am highly sought after which I love; other times, my days are wide open with only the sound of crickets in my calendar.
September and October provided loads of time for self-healing and exploration. Well then, Miss Patricia, why did you not get the newsletter out in time? Lots of reasons. 😊 At the end of September, I attended the Weyburn Natural Health and Healing Expo for two days. I love people, I especially love to work with people in small groups or one-on-one in session or classes. Spending two full days with so much energy and meeting a plethora of people, my energetic battery needed to recharge; that did not happen this time as there were merely two days before collecting my brother from the airport for a four-day visit. I whisked him back to the airport and got down to the business of preparing for my first speaking event at The Power of An Unstoppable Women conference here in Regina. Whew! That was a lot!
Speaking at the Unstoppable Women conference about self-forgiveness on the path to self-love.

What’s new and interesting?
As I mentioned earlier in the year, I have joined the board of the Regina Women’s Network as the VP of Programming Elect. I am working with a fascinating lady named Bernadet who is teaching me what the role entails. We have loads of things planned to fill the mixes on every first Tuesday of the month and the lunch presentations on the third Tuesday of the month. Our first event took place on Tuesday, October 10th at the Saskatchewan Science Centre where we hosted the Honourable Laura Ross, Minister of the Status of Women among other duties. She came to us to speak about her life’s work of removing barriers for women. There is something incredibly inspiring about hearing how someone has used their power and will to create better lives for others, some of whom they don’t even know personally. I enjoyed her presentation and the ability to network with other women in the informal part of the evening. I have met many fascinating ladies in the ten months that I have been involved with RWN.
Coming up quickly on Tuesday, October 24th from 5:30 – 8:30 will be the RWN Meet the Board evening where members and curious not-yet-members alike can join us for a lovely meal at The Williston in Harbour Landing to meet the 2023-24 board members and learn about the amazing plans we have for the year ahead. As a member of the programming team, I would love to hear what kinds of things you are interested in seeing at our lunches and mixers.
Coming this Sunday, October 22nd, I will be hosting the kick off of another new friend’s business. Tania Bird is someone who I met long ago at the beginning of my career at SaskTel and our friendship has reached new heights because of the network of women events. She calls herself The Closet Curator and she has been muddling around in the closets of her friends for years as a hobby, helping them put outfits together with the things they already have, styling them, shopping for missing pieces, and later learned to colour code them for their personality and preferences. At long last, she has decided to create an actual business from this skill; although I was not the first person to encourage her to launch this as a service, I tipped the scale for her when I agreed to host a party for her to showcase her skills. Six lovely ladies will be attending my place to learn their personal colour palettes and see examples of the outfits she created from my closet, including things I have owned for years and failed to figure out how to pair them. I am excited to participate in her success!
Thursday, November 9 I will be teaching Reiki 2nd Degree in my home. I teach small classes with a maximum of four students. The class is half full as of October 16th, if you or anyone you know is interested, please pop over to the link above and register. Reiki level two includes the harmony and distance symbols as well as information on life roles, dimensions and more. Students will receive their Reiki 2nd Degree certificates and a copy of Diane Stein’s Essential Reiki book.
Those who know me well are likely wondering why I have not yet mentioned Halloween; see above, my cup runneth over! Have no fear though plans are underway. We are collaborating with our neighbours this year so we have the run of the whole front lawn. We will be able to run amok in a bigger way this year. There are bits and pieces in progress and I will be posting sneak peaks on my Facebook page soon; yes, I still have one of those. 😉
For more Halloween fun, a gaggle of girls and I will be heading to the Rocky Horror Picture Show on the 28th. I am working on that costume too and promise there will be pictures.
I am having so much glorious girl time right now! November 2 – 4, I will be heading to Saskatoon with three gorgeous gal pals and meeting a fourth to attend the Lead conference featuring presentations by Arlene Dickenson, Jack Canfield and more. I am excited about the presentations as well as the time spent with friends. It had been a while since I treated myself motivational speakers and now, I will be at two events in less than a month! If you are in the area, those tickets are available until October 25th.
I have been living my best life these days. As I stated in one of my recent blogs here on My Weird and Wonderful Life, something shifted within me. I am truly able to maintain my set point which is not perfectly the zero point, but awfully close. I have healed ancient wounds including the letting go of mistrust of women which has led to all the blossoming friendships listed above. I do not really have the lower vibing emotions like I did in the past; things I would have reacted negatively to before, it is like I go to reach for those emotions and they are just past the fingertips of my emotional reach, instead of feeling low, I just bounce back to my usual self and observe what is happening with interest instead of judgement. How did I get her? It was a combination of self-forgiveness and really digging into the root cause of the emotions, thought forms, and judgements that plagued me for so long. I have been faithful in the practice of three morning pages every day; I strive for the morning and when that is not possible, I fit it in at the close of my day. Journaling my feelings, thoughts, issues, and mundane recap of my days has helped me remain clear. I do not allow things to bottle up, rather laying them out neatly on the page for consideration, healing, and growth. The inspiration that comes back to me from the page is lovely and often surprising. I highly recommend this practice which comes from the book The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.
Okay, this is getting long. Please know that I love you all! I appreciate your time, your heart, and your eyes on this page. Know that you can find me at sparksofhealing.ca if you are looking to book in for hypnosis, Reiki, or any of the other energy services that I offer be it for an in person or online session.
All my love and wishes for you to be living your life with passion where all of your experiences flow with grace and ease.
